A succesful brand makes an imprint on the memory of those that see it.

For that memory to be a good one, the logo or wordmark must convey trust and quality. That means they must be professional, clear, and evocative of the organization they represent.

We design new logos and wordmarks, and refresh old ones for companies, individuals, and organizations. There are recent examples listed on the right.

Logo or Wordmark

Specifically, a logo is any symbol or arrangement of letters that represents an organization without explicitly spelling out its name.

Conversly, a wordmark is just a stylized version of the organization's name spelled out. Urbdesigner has a wordmark, at the upper left corner of this webpage and does not have a logo.

When paired together a logo and highly stylized wordmark often compete with one another for attention. To prevent this it makes sense to use one or the other. We work with clients to decide which is appropriate for their project.

Production Sequence

1. Exploration - The first step is to examine the organization the branding project is meant to represent. This includes its goals, intended audiences, and existing branding.

2. Solution Selection - Once studied, the studio crafts prototype designs for review with the client.

3. Design Execution - With options selected execution of the final design begins. Timelines and programmed reviews structure this process.

4. Approval and Implementation - The final design is approved by the client and then distributed to new advertising, web, print, and other branding materials as planned.

5. Continued Development - The studio works with clients to develop simple implementation rules for each branding project. This helps clients protect the visual strength of their brand as they use it.

Naming Research

We offer help to clients regarding website domains and product naming research.

A multi-cultural world means it is important to check prospective names and symbols for unintended problems. Both products and companies benefit if their brand is uncluttered with competing meanings.

The studio works with clients to develop their naming strategies and then test those against common meanings in foreign languages.

Internet domains are always in intense competition and finding the perfect web address is an important consideration for any new project. We have years of experience in finding relevant, available domains for new and existing organizations.
