Financial Aid Guide

Important project details

The studio worked with Illinois Tech's financial aid department to design this 22-page guide for students and parents.

The university wanted to simplify the financial aid experience and provide a resource to lighten employee phone loads. To achieve this the booklet is arranged like a magazine - complete with table of contents, glossy imagery sporting captions, and pull out quotes.

The table of contents directs students to each step of the university's financial aid procedures. Page by page, information is simply explained, relevant website addresses are consistently highlighted, and complex mathematic sequences are made easy to understand.

'Sell the school'

The university has recently transformed its campus with new architecture, landscaping, and an iconic train tunnel. Knowing this booklet would reach prospective students the admissions department wanted every page to 'sell the school'.

The studio poured over imagery of the campus' new architecture. Each picture exhibits some quality of life important to students. That includes leafy lawns, daring architecture, fancy new dorms, and plenty of college students enjoying themselves.

Future-proofing

The university wanted to update the booklet easily so the years and specific money amounts were all made easily editable.

Further, by choosing an aesethic based on the university's distinctive campus and not a 'theme' the booklet will remain visually relevent for longer.

Make it easy

The booklet sports charts and letter explanation diagrams (examples at right). In each case the information was arranged by the studio working with the department employees to find the clearest approach.

The financial aid 'award letter' is the last step of the process for accepted students. The parents and student are guided through each part of the letter with the graphic at right.
