Computer programs, websites, and digital devices all require understandable navigation tools.

When users encounter intuitive menus and toolsets the product they are using becomes truly useful. Good design can make any program an extension of the user's creativity.

This studio designs new user interfaces for software companies, web projects, and device makers. There are recent examples listed on the right.

Interface Design

Each project includes a familiarization period during which the studio studies intended functions and clients requirements. A project plan that details all menus, levels, functions and results is submitted for approval by the client.

The plan details how the user will encounter and then understand the proposed interface. Links and submenu sequences are throroughly described.

All user elements are simple, intuitive, and editable.

Wording & Iconography

Once the project plan is set the studio works to distill all option choices to the simplest and most universally understandable vocabulary. Multiple language options are available.

Many projects can benefit from reinforcing imagery. The studio both constructs U / I architecture and creates custom imagery to populate it. When wording is visually insufficient icons can spell out meanings.

The icons at right are designed for a cultural exchange program's website. Because their international users speak a variety of languages other than English, the website sports easily understood icons.

Integration

The studio designs icons and layouts that conform to existing or new graphics schemes.

The studio worked with Argonne National Labratory's (ANL) in-house design team to develop versatile new organizational elements for their information division.

The division's major offerings were categorized and spread over a lower menu bar. Each offering gets its own solid color tab taken directly from the ANL logo. Keeping the same colors is a simple trick but it provides a simple, attractive look. Upon rollover the tabs activate indicating they are links.
